Bruiser

Bruiser has been a part of the family for 13 years. He was around from birth, a son of my border collie Gael (lost in 2006 to cancer) and Bud, a blue heeler. He’s traveled many miles, lived in several states and maintained a willingness to defend his home whatever it took. He had a talent for finding the nastiest, most vile smelling stuff and rubbing into every fiber of his coat. Until the last year or so he preferred outside in the yard to inside except during thunderstorms – as he got older he preferred a warmer place to sleep and a softer cushion.

He’d been getting reacquainted with Connor after many years apart. Just 9 days ago the photo of them napping together was taken. Today after a short illness Bruiser was laid to rest. He’ll be sorely missed – for road trips, stealing unguarded cookies and his occasional sugar craving.

Oh Jan, I am soooo very sorry to hear about Bruiser. I know you loved him dearly. It’s always hard to loose a member of your family. You gave him a good life and I’m certain he loved you for it. RIP Bruiser.

Thanks Amy – they do get to be a part of things. He definitely created memories that won’t soon fade!
