Ag In The Bible ~ Love One Another

March 18, 2012

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you.

John 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Missy has this down. She’s a half border collie, granddaughter of Gael who like her grandmother would lay down her very life to protect me. It isn’t perfect – sometimes what she sees worthy of “protecting” me from isn’t reality. She’ll also protect the cats, even from dogs much larger than herself and at the risk of getting beaten up badly.

Are we willing to do the same? When someone disagrees with us how do react? We’re imperfect and don’t always react in a way befitting of Him.

So often during day to day things there is communication between Connor and the dogs that what he ‘says’ and what they ‘hear’ is different. In frustration sometimes he’ll stomp the floor and say “get back!” when feeding so that a particular dog can eat. Now for the bolder dogs, they’ll come right back up. The more timid ones – Bess or Queenie for example – after a couple of times the stress is apparent. They finally work up the nerve to try and he’ll reprimand Girl or Diva. Bess or Queenie don’t understand it’s not personal – so ‘hear’ correction for obeying.

We’re the only touch of Jesus some see. When we represent the business, the uniform, our work etc it’s with a professional air. What about representing Him? Should that also carry expectation? If we’re the only Jesus many sees, is it a wonder some people give up (like Queenie might, even when hungry)? Let’s make it possible to hear and share correctly.
