Ag in the Bible – Spiritual Simplicity

September 30, 2012

There are entire libraries of books written on simplicity as a topics. I have many of them! People seek to connect to a simpler time, even if not understanding that it’s not always as easy as we imagine. We want an easy bullet. We declutter and give away unused items and eliminate unneeded “stuff” from our life. How about from our spiritual life?

Focusing on essentials can mean other things fall into place. Perhaps we want to spend time daily in His presence to hear His direction. Perhaps it’s just seeking additional reminders of His awesome works.

Those in agriculture may have these touches on a regular basis, from harvest time to a new lamb, or summer rain to a sunny winter day.

The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of the lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place? Psalm 24:1-3

Sometimes like a good friend we just sit and spend time together. Don’t make that time too late. Clear out the life clutter…the to do list that is a running account in our heads. Just be. Five minutes, a half hour…take the time to find peace.
