Saturday Market – Changing Communities & Beyond

April 13, 2013

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI need to ask a favor folks – that being a share of the Indiegogo project link we’re doing. We’re working towards a growth expansion and it’s approaching a critical point. We’ve got some cool things planned, but are waiting for some other things that need to happen first.

I debate writing this, but we’re told folks want transparency, and I’m sure some will criticize. It’s not all sunshine, rainbows and rising waters. And unfortunately sometimes it takes cold hard cash – not credit, not promises of someday – to make things move. So, with 60some babies that will need housing in a month or so, and with other things in motion this is an attempt to do on our own what needs to be done, but the reality is we can’t do it without *you*!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt does take a community to serve a community. In this case it’s perhaps slightly different communities but no less important. We do listen to people – even when some think we’re being hard headed! We hear people want fresh, direct food for all. We hear it doesn’t matter the part of the country we’re in, although it does somewhat from a market standpoint.

Many who want the availability of food for all do not live in our immediate area. Many people are falling through the cracks, not qualifying for food programs but not able to afford food choices. Our sponsorships help provide for that, but with public support we can take this to a bigger level.

We’ll still have our farm shares, CSA shares and other things, but we’ve come up with some extra perks on here, a feature of the Moove Over Farmville and some other goodies. It’s easy to discouraged seeing art things raise tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars and agriculture or food programs not so much. I’m not a crowdsourcing expert by any means, but the more who know about it the more chance we have of finding those with the means to participate in this.

With that in mind, I would appreciate those who can spread/share this, click the profile and click like or leave a comment there to raise it in the ratings, and anyone who might be able to take part is hugely appreciated. I’d prefer advanced sales, but have heard folks who insist this is another path, so in the vein of trying uncomfortable things – this is it!

Please share it with slow money investment folks, slow food fans, small farm supporters and whomever else you can think of. We’d like to get some programs going for food for veteran’s families so would appreciate anyone who has input to that (and do let us know in the profile comments of the campaign so we know that’s for sure a direction to head!).  This is also testing interest in clinics and other programs – which we know (and have heard) we have so much to share but we cannot do without a land expansion.

We’re so close but so far in dollars from making that happen. And, while we don’t have a problem setting a fair price for our products, sometimes it’s beyond this. There is a fee Indiegogo charges for these campaigns, but 100% of the funds raised go for the expansion and if by some miracle we make our goal, you’ll definitely read about it here!

We’ve not shrugged away from daunting tasks before. We won’t this time. But at the same time, asking for assistance even “just” spreading the word is difficult. It’s social media – spreading the word is huge. Thank you, thank you, thank you for those willing to do this.
