Finding A Better Way
There are times one can get truly depressed reading the news, let alone the comment sections within the articles! Such hateful things said to those we don’t know!
I hopped on Twitter briefly and saw mention of the destruction of papaya trees because of the type of papaya.
Then I came across an awesome song from George Donaldson –
I have not commented much on the current government shutdown, but the comments on news reports are incredible. We take so many things for granted, and yet when people we put in power prove they can’t be trusted, they get elected again…and again…and again…and again! Perhaps when enough people get tired enough things will change and there will be a real difference, not just promises.
We’re racist for disagreeing with someone of another color – it can’t possibly be a difference of opinion, no. It must be a personal attack.
I see, in other comments, that we just don’t understand what it’s like to be hated. Really? Because the many songs telling tales like the above video don’t understand torture, killing, removal from homes?
How about those advocating to lock up all mentally ill – treat all the same? Perhaps we should go back to times like one of our family members – committed to live with the criminally, violently insane. She had nowhere to go, so her ‘crime’ was ‘religious fervor’ – she read and memorized passages from the Bible. One can imagine the long days – for years – with no respite, simply because some disagreed and there was nowhere for her to go at a bad time in history.
What would it be like to live in a world without hate? Without the hardened hearts that lead to actions and words exchanged that shouldn’t be?
Here’s to finding a better way. For all of us! As we get rolling and work on the clinics and retreats, it’s with that little bit of peace in mind. Everyone needs that, no matter how famous you are (or not) or how much money you have (or don’t).
Make a difference for someone. Today.
