Memorial Day – Not Just BBQs This Weekend
This weekend is more about Troy than grilling. It’s more for Ron Payne, and the many names that sometimes people see in passing but never think about the person behind those names.
The kind of people that hear of or see someone in trouble and go to help. The kind of people who think of others. The kind of people that are missed by the families left behind who wish it was just a grilling holiday, but for whom every day is a reminder. If you don’t personally know someone who has earned the right to be remembered on Memorial Day (which isn’t happy folks!), I urge you to write to a handful of our military members – get to know their nothing ever happens days until something happens.
Let them know someone back here cares. Graduations are taking place throughout the US and many of those graduates will be signing up for the military. Support is important.
Communities band together to gather thousands of votes for contestants on television shows. It seems thousands of people, then, should also support those from the community serving.
And remember. Always remember.
I didn’t know Ron Payne, but do know someone who lived because of his actions.
